While I was doing a search on the word Library it was interesting to see that after about 1 minute another 12 tweets including the word library had occurred and then 1 minute later there were 23 total extra tweets including the word library. This shows me that Twitter is live and has plenty of active uses mentioning this word. Searched Library first then library staff. I could not tell how many tweets were available on each word though. Library Staff did not get the updates that library did. My search on Library activities showed the latest was 3 hours ago and the oldest on the page was 16 hours ago. I am starting to get a handle on how Twitter works. The more recent the Tweets the more active the topic is. I have the a 256/64 ADSL connection and am finding very slow to open the links to peoples Tweets and the first click is just taking me to a page with a link to the tweet. This seems a wasted steep that achieves nothing. Well joining Twitter and following / connecting with people of like minds was very interesting. Great to see how live and dynamic Twitter can be.
Libraries could use Twitter to stay connected to our patrons and to help keep them informed. We can get feeds from friends and people or institutions of interest. Twitter could be used as a tool to get feedback after events. It is possible to have Twitter graph your twits stats and reply stats as well. This can tell us what the public show more interest in. TweetSum allow you to know at a glance who your followers are. Nearly forgot to mention that my Twitter username is Eric20459.
